Memorial Day Weekend...Aaah, The Memories!!!

It came...It went!

We looked forward to it for so long...Memorial Day Weekend! And now it's over. But it was so much fun!

It took me a good 24 hours of packing and thinking about packing...what to bring for cold weather, cool weather, warm weather, swimming weather, YIKES! But, by 8:30 Friday morning the Knight family was on their way to Higgins Lake! We arrived to a calm lake and cloudy skies! But who cared, we were at the Lake! It only took three phone calls from Logan to Mema and Papa to get them to come up north too! Suckers!!!!

Like I said, we had packed for every kind of weather imaginable...and we had every kind of weather! Rain, wind, cold, warm, calm, etc, etc, etc!!! But, that was no stopping us! We were outside hiking, picking flowers, 'fluffing' dirt and sand, treasure hunting (Mema and Papa hid baggies full of marshmallows out in the woods for the girls to search for), sand castle building and destroying and lots of food!!! (Can you say Cheetos?)

Now we're back home and hoping that summer will arrive soon!

Enough of the Blues...Let's Enjoy Life

As I'm sure you all read in my last post, you can imagine I have had quite the emotional ride for the past few weeks! Not sure what to think...feel...do! Therapists telling us one thing then another...autism, then not! My goodness, I can't take it! So, we've decided to get multiple opinions from multiple levels and sources. We will be heading to Ann Arbor to Dr. Solomon (a known guru), getting a full-blown evaluation from the ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders) team here in Clinton County through RESA and we are also pursuing an evaluation from UMACC; the University of Michigan Autism and Communication Disorders Center. They are very comprehensive in their evaluation as it is 9-12 hours of evaluations and observations with three separate appointments. With the three individual perspectives as well as our own, we feel that we are doing all that we can!!! We know in our heart that getting an accurate diagnosis is the most important...then we can make leaps and bounds of progress from there!!!

But we have made so much progress already! That is by just enjoying one another to the max!!!!We're enjoying life to the fullest as a family...of five (with Riley, that is)! We've been out and about this spring and have had so much fun! The girls love being outside and simply adore running and being at the park! We were able to go to a picnic for Guatemalan Adoptive Families, the Dinosaur (or as Logan says, the "daddy-sore" park), the school yard across the street, take bike rides to the ice cream shop and the girls got to experience Geo-Caching for the first time ever! Logan loved the treasures and Leah loved the hiking in the woods!

Leah and Riley have been busy too! Riley is taking his practice Assistance Dog International test this Saturday...just to give us a peek at what needs to be worked on yet (hopefully he nails it!!). Leah's therapy has increased...speech twice per week, OT once and a teacher once per week. So Riley is busy with her at all of these sessions. (He actually just soaks up the attention from all of the therapists and other people!!!) We are considering training and working with Riley to tether him to Leah for safety reasons. Leah is a runner and not so environmentally aware! So, we're hoping that he is up to the task of keeping her in line! (As long as he doesn't chase his tail while he's tethered to her, I think we'll be all set!!!)

Anyway, I've got some great springtime pictures to share with you...Enjoy!!!
