Growing Up

It's been some time that I've really posted about the family, so I thought it was "high time". Life seems to have gotten chaotic once again. It all settled down...it seemed to hibernate for a while! But our lives are in full bloom just as those beautiful tulips are!!!!

We're all growing up around here! What do I mean by that? Well, I've made the decision to resign from my job at MSU and go back to work in the public schools. Why leave MSU, the place everyone would love to work? Because they basically suck you dry!!! Haha! I have the priority of being a mother (and a wife, too, believe it or not) and the long, demanding days of being the coordinator at MSU just wasn't aligning with these priorities! So, I'm heading back into being a teacher consultant for students who are deaf and hard of hearing in Livingston County. I'll have normal work hours but it sounds like I'll still be in MSU's arena by being an adjunct! So, the best of both worlds!

Josh is growing........smaller! He's losing weight! So much so that his belt is cinched so tight it looks painful! For those of you who didn't know, he had a bit of a scare with his heart back in March...ER visits, lots of tests, etc. RESULT: a coney dog lodged in his heart!!! :) So, it's lose some weight or be on the verge of more heart issues! So, he's looking like a million!!!!

Leah and Logan are growing up too!!! OMG, a little too much!!! Leah is making gains in her development...like she's on the Indy 500 raceway! The home ABA program that we have employed is amazing and the home teachers that work with Leah are miracle workers! Leah is talking in sentences, asking and answering questions and rapidly becoming an appropriate little girl. We've been working with Dr.s out of the Kalamazoo area and they believe with continued intense services, like we've been providing, Leah may lose her label of Autism. No, this doesn't mean that she won't continue to have some characteristics of autism. But it does mean that she will potentially be indistinguishable from her typically developing peers in just a few short years!

Logan is also growing up way too fast! In fact, today she has her very first 'go-over-to-a-friend's-house-without-mom-play-date'!!!! AARGH!!! Logan has a very good friend from Prime Time Preschool and Logan doesn't go to school anymore, she goes to "see my best friend, Ella?"!!! Yes, Ella is her BEST FRIEND and she's spreading her wings with a play date today! Logan also has the funniest things pop out of her mouth these days...Things that Josh or I clearly say to her but now she's saying to us! Uh-oh! Watch out everyone!

I'm sure you are all waiting for an update on the adoption as well! Baby Knight is still in the paperwork process!! Haha! Believe it or not, I've completed a majority of the document collection, with a few things yet to gather, and we still don't even have the official go-ahead to do so! I have the checklists...so I doing it! Call me efficient, call me uptight, call me a Mom on a Mission to bring her baby home!!! We're waiting on the Home Study update to be done. This just necessitates a home visit and some updating on the original document! Not a big deal...just have to get it on the books and get it done!
Lastly, I guess we're not really "growing up" in a few weeks, in fact we're all gonna act like kids! We're going to Disney World! Josh and I decided this is a great time to take the girls...ahem, the princesses...to their Kingdom! We'll be spending 10 days there!!! OMG! We'll be sure to give you lots of pics and updates after that trip!!
To leave you now...here are some pictures of our growing girls!

Our Latest News

It's been some time since I've posted anything on the 'ole blog! Sorry!! Life always seems to get in the way of sitting down to type endlessly onto a keyboard and pass time in ways that don't revolve around two little beauties!!!

But since the last post and prior to that, Josh and I have been in the process of making a life changing decision. No, we're not moving! (That was a funny April Fool's joke though!) No, we're not quitting our jobs and becoming missionaries! (Although I would love to go on a mission some day!) No, I'm not having a baby! (Are you kidding me...this body is not a house!) But YES, we are adopting a baby!!!!

The Knight Family is expanding to five!!! (Plus 1 dog...who can forget Riley!) Leah and Logan will be the proud big sisters to a baby girl who will be brought home sometime within the next 6-24 months. (How do you like that timeframe!?!?!? Pins and needles, I know!)

I've developed a short video to begin to share the news. I would love to share that with all of you here! Check back for updates regarding the process! Our social worker will be meeting with us next week for the first of several appointments!!! Baby Girl Knight #3 is coming home!!!!
